Sedibeng choral put together this year a show that all batswana could relate. Made in Botswana is a collection of songs representing the everyday life of the Batswana people. This was abeautiful dramatization all set to music by the choir.The opening was a song entitled Dumelang Batswana (the greeting song) this led to a song called Thabo ke tsala yame (Thabo my Friend) All these pieces were cleverly stringed together. Other songs spoke of wedding ceremonies, religion, Hiv and Aids. Sedibeng will spend all of 2010 presenting this production.

PIRATES OF PENZANCE

Sedibeng set a trend in 2008 by performing an opera which was a first for Botswana's local choirs. None of our local choirs has yet put up an opera in Botswana. Pirates of Penzance was a lot of work but the group did a great job, with our very own Ralph Dennison(also President of the choir)doing the choreography. Oteng Zachariah (also the choir's accountant) was cast as The major general. Tshenolo Segokgo (Currently studying music in France) was cast as Mabel.With months of work work work. Sedibeng finally put up the show first for schools represented by their school choirs. The other shows were for the general public. Sedibeng was accompanied by David Slater and Celine Matthee and a small orchestra made up of Maruapula school students.

Sedibeng Choral Society is one of the country's most flourishing youth choirs. The youth group is purposed to singing classical music and traditional African song dance choral music.

The choir was started with about 5 singers at inception (4 years ago) but today it boasts of well over 40 zealous singers. the group is fast expanding its repertoire every year having sung works like Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria, Beethoven's choral symphony (number9), John Rutter's Feel the Spirit, Joseph Haydn's Creation, the opera Pirates of Penzance.

The group has performed for different corporate establishments and organizations such as Debswana, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, The British Council, The British High Commission, The Swedish Embassy, The Chinese Embassy, The Red Cross Society of Botswana and many others.

The greatest highlight for the choir this year was being part of the Number One Ladies Detective Agency episode film shoot. The choir also did the opening sound track to the first episode.
